Russia Gadget Ban

Russia has passed a law that bans the sale of gadgets that do not have pre-installed Russian software. This will come into effect in July 2020. The proposers of the law say it will promote Russian technology and make it easier for people in the country to use the gadgets. Some people are concerned the reason for this law is to survey the people. Russians can still buy gadgets from other countries but Russian alternative software will be installed onto the gadget. Companies say they will leave the Russian market because it won’t be possible to install Russian software on certain devices. Russia is tightening its internet laws removing certain results from search engines and now restricting software from Western countries. People fear the Russian government is trying to create a firewall.
