Kevin Fiege, film producer and Marvel president, confirmed Marvel will have a transgender character in a film. At a Q&A in New York Film Academy, he guaranteed there will be a transgender superhero in a movie being currently filmed. Fans have been speculating the company would introduce more LGBT+ characters. In July of 2019, someone suggested Marvel was seeking a trans female. A clue to this is the only transgender superhero in the Marvel universe is Sera, who is in an all-male angel group called the Ancharities. She exists in Thor’s world where she meets Thor’s half-sister Angela and later becomes her romantic interest. Another character in Thor’s world, Valkyrie, is identified as bisexual. This year, Marvel is releasing The Eternals in November of 2020. The movie will feature the first gay character in the Marvel Universe. The company is also introducing the first deaf superhero in The Eternals and the first Asian-American superhero in Legend of the Ten Rings. The Marvel Universe is broadening its views in order to have everyone feel respected and have the audience be able to identify with the characters.
