Gaming is taking a whole new level. According to Atari themselves, they are set to open up a new gaming-themed hotel in Phoenix, Arizona sometime in 2020. They are working together with Smith’s GSD group to make the design a success (Smith produced the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot and has a fair understanding of design). This hotel would have a setting of a nice modern look mixed with decor that resembles a collection of nostalgic video games, such as Centipede, Asteroids, Pong, and many more old classics.
According to many sources, including the New York Times, everything is supposedly going to be “affordably priced” for anyone to stay. Some rooms will have a retro design while others will have a more futuristic design–whatever the rooms may look like, the hotel is supposed to serve as a designated safe place for gamers to stay while feeling cozy and meeting new people that share similar interests.
Phoenix is not the only place planned to have one of these original hotels. Cities like Austin, Chicago; Denver; Las Vegas; San Francisco; Seattle; and San Jose, California may also have one of these hotels in the near future. One thing’s for sure: gaming-themed hotels will gain lots of popularity and will undoubtedly be a fun, yet sentimental place to stay.
