Pancakes & Goo

Since I was a child when my heavy eyes opened to see the morning my senses awaken and I knew it would be a good day if i smelled pancakes and goo. Pancakes are an average American household staple, but goo. Goo is a secret recipe that my great grandma taught my grandma who taught my mom, who taught me. And now I am teaching you. Everytime we have early morning guests my mom likes to scare them with pancakes and goo. Goo, as the name suggests, looks like goo. But, despite it’s deceiving appearance, goo has impressed everyone I have fed it to. So, wake up and let’s get cooking. First off let’s make the goo , so it’s ready while our pancakes are warm. Go grab a small-medium saucepan and turn your stove on medium. Now , put about a cup of milk in the pan. Next up grab some sugar, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Add in a cap full of vanilla extract, ¼ cup of sugar , and a few shakes of cinnamon. Now as that simmers, go fetch a bag of flour. Add spoonfuls of flour until the consistency is “goo-like” . And finally, take a taste! Now time for pancakes! You can use any box of pancake mix you’d like, or follow the recipe below from allrecipies.com. After that you’ve got goo and pancakes! Enjoy! 

  • Good Old Fashioned Pancakes
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Add all ingredients to list

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both Tip Reynolds® Aluminum foil can be used to keep food moist, cook it evenly, and make clean-up easier.
