El Diamante Rally Goes Virtual

This week El Diamante had its very first rally to kick off the school year. But this time around it was all online. With students and staff working from home, it’s near impossible to work around the other missed activities school normally has to offer. No dances, no sports, no clubs, no rallies. However, the El Diamante broadcasting class was able to put together a fun, engaging rally anyways.

The first full-distance rally began with students cheering and dancing. Students took videos on their cell phones using TikTok or just their regular camera. There was also a segment announcing those that best exemplified P.I.C.K. (perseverance, integrity, courage, kindness). Perhaps one of the most entertaining sections of the rally was the true or false game. Students joined a meeting on Zoom to watch a couple videos of a family interacting in the virtual meeting space. After watching the videos, Mrs. Hebert asked the participants several questions regarding the events of the family’s Zoom call. If a student answered incorrectly, their video had to be turned off, leaving the last one standing as the winner. The rally then ended with a bittersweet message from El Diamante principal, Mr. Hohne. He suggested some tips to help with getting through full distance learning and how we can all get through these difficult times together.
