The Utah Monolith

The state of Utah has sent everyone’s imaginations into chaos. Utah’s Department of Public Safety’s Aero Bureau were assisting Wildlife Resources on November 18, when they spotted a tall, metallic, and reflective structure that had been placed in the desert. The structure vanished over the weekend during Thanksgiving, and was replaced with a small metallic pyramid and a pile of rocks.

The public’s first guess as to who placed the monolith was obviously aliens. Theories and jokes spread around the world as a result of this event. Some suggested that the monolith was simply a piece of art by Petecia Le Fawnhawk, an artist in Utah. However, she told Artnet News that she “cannot claim this one”.

What’s weirder is that not long after the monolith disappeared in Utah, another monolith was found not too far from a historic fortress in Romania. The Romanian monolith seemed different from Utah’s. It was a lot rougher and taller than the one in Utah.

As of now, Romanian officials said that they will investigate, since whoever put the monolith down didn’t have permission to do so. Utah, on the other hand, lacks resources to investigate the monolith’s appearance and disappearance. San Juan County officials say that they are unlikely to follow up, as the monolith’s appearance was already illegal. The world is still debating how these monoliths ended up in these places, and if there are going to be any more mysterious monoliths appearing from now on.
