What is Lunch?

Before the new semester started most students waited in anticipation to see what the new schedule for our classes would look like. Some were disappointed to see that the classes bacem longer, and others enjoyed the fact that more time would be spent on actually learning the materials rather than just doing piles of homework. I personally like the new schedule, especially since most teachers have more ways to be creative with their classes. However, there is one major problem with the new schedule that most students, and even some teachers, have found. This major problem revolves around the mysteriously chosen lunch time.

As we all know, lunch starts right after the first period around 10:30 and ends at 11:55. This is a very strange place to set lunch, especially since it’s way too early for most students who would barely wake up at 12pm during the summer. A handful of students don’t even use this time for lunch, and instead use it as a mandatory nap time, and I most definitely am not speaking from experience.

This issue can be easily resolved by making lunch time start after the second period, which would be a more reasonable time to eat. Although the current lunch time may not seem to be that big of an issue, because it is so early and some students may sleep during this time instead, most often than not they wake up tired and not well adjusted for the rest of their classes.

Maybe in the future we will see some slight changes to the schedule, but for now we must try to fill in our strange lunch time with either an unsatisfying brunch, or as a time to take an unsatisfying nap.
