Strange School

Schools across the country have gotten shut down due to this COVID pandemic. Some want to stay closed while others are trying to figure out what to do in order to safely open back. What I can say is that my school, El Diamante High School, has remained closed throughout this time. But, sometimes teachers would have us get some novels, textbooks, and other supplies needed for our projects on campus; that’s exactly what I did. On Wednesday this week, I was able to pick up a novel for my English class and let me just say, it was strange being there. I felt a nostalgic moment walking towards our front gates and remembering times when students would hang out there. As I kept walking in and passing by the offices, I noticed that there were set ups and signs of where we can get our books and supplies. I made it to the library and as I was getting the book, I looked around and saw areas of the cafeteria and the student store and thinking about how we could’ve had more time to be there. My heart was racing because I was having memories when I was on campus. It was very weird just being there without anyone else, but the campus monitors and office people being there. I walked more and more towards the area where I used to hang out with my friends. I kinda wanted to cry at that point just realizing what this pandemic took away. It must’ve been sad for others being there without any other student being there. We didn’t think March 13th, 2020 would have been our final day at this strange school.
