Liquid Nitrogen Leak

On Thursday, January 28th, a liquid nitrogen leak at a Georgia food packing plant killed at least six people and left eleven more people hospitalized.

In the early morning, authorities were called out to a hazardous material call. Roughly one hundred and thirty employees were evacuated when a nitrogen leak set off chaos in the plant, even some pushing each other to get out quickly.

Liquid nitrogen is colorless, odorless and extremely cold. It can cause serious damage and quick death with no warning. This type of gas can cause extensive tissue damage or burns. Inhaling large amounts of nitrogen can cause dizziness, vomiting, loss of consciousness and death.

These people went to work not knowing their life would be ending that day. Prayers go out to these people’s family and friends.
