A Oklahoma couple orchestrated a murder but didn’t think twice. The couple that had orchestrated this murder is Courtney Deatherage and her second husband, Dustin. The couple came up with a plan and the best way to murder her ex-husband and get away with it. Courtney would pick up the phone and contact a family friend from Texas. Courtney asked and negotiated with the family friend to help with the murder. The three of them negotiated $250 as downpayment to help with the murder, which they would get when met up as well as another $250 after the murder. After the call, the family friend immediately called the police and told them everything. The police were then in regular contact with the friend and came up with a plan to catch the pair in the act. And they also kept an eye on the ex-husband to keep him safe and make sure nothing bad happened to him. On January 22 2021, the family friend traveled to meet with the pair to finalize the deal. The three planned the deed in Courtney’s deal and the couple gave the friend a 12 gauge shotgun. They had actually taken the shotgun from Dustin’s grandfather’s home earlier that week. The police were close by knowing what was going on and keeping an eye on the situation. In the end instead of $250 as down payment the friend only received a $100 as down payment. On the drive to where the ex-husband was, Law Enforcement made a routine traffic stop on the car. And based on the gun and the friend’s statement, Courtney was immediately arrested as she had been the primary instigator. Courtney was taken to Latimer County jail and put on a $100,000 bond which had been paid. And on January 29 2021, a week after Courtney’s arrest, Dustin was taken into custody as well. Dustin had also been given a $100,000 bond but it is unclear if it has been paid or not. Both Courtney and Dustin now face solicitation pf murder charges in connection with their plot.
