Vaccine advisors for the CDC voted on Sunday, February 28 to recommend the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for the U.S., and the recommendation was then signed off by CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is the first of the three authorized COVID-19 vaccines that comes in a single dose. According to statements from Walensky, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been proven to be very reliable in preventing health complications caused by COVID-19. Also, she states that the vaccine is another tool to vaccinate as many people as possible. The US Food and Drug Administration authorized the vaccine by Johnson & Johnson on Saturday, February 27. The vaccine advisors, or the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, voted unanimously to recommend the vaccine. Because of this unanimous vote to recommend the vaccine, the federal government will soon distribute the 3.9 million doses of the vaccine to U.S. citizens. The company has pledged to release 20 million doses by the end of March and 100 million doses by the beginning of summer.
