ADHD Poem (part 1)

light & noise are evil twins

one is loud

deafening

enough to grind my teeth to dust

enough to burst my jaw

and the vein in my temple

the other pulses

brightly

behind my eyelids it flashes

bright enough to split my pupil

bright enough to scorch my retina

and yet only i seem to hear one

and yet only i seem to see one

the cavernous depths

of my skull

is room enough

for the noise to bounce off of

the echo is far too loud

the cavernous depths

of my skull

is home to mirrors

for the light to reflect off of

the flash is far too bright

it feels like

i just might

close

my

eyes
