Recently I was scrolling through my TikTok feed and I came across an interesting video about the Gypsy Rose Case. I looked up on Google who she was and then found a documentary called Mommy Dead and Dearest about a girl named Gypsy Rose with an overprotective mother named Dee Dee Blanchard. This was a very interesting documentary that was about a mother who took control over her daughters decisions and forced her to fake her illness in order to get financial gain and special treatment. This family was given a free house, donations, and support from the public- although Gypsy Rose was faking her illness all along. The story of Gypsy Rose resulted into tragedy involving a planned murder against the possesive mother.
This documentary led me to do more research on this unfortunate event and I discovered a T.V. show on Hulu called The Act. With celebrities, Joey King and Patricia Arquette, they presented their characters very strongly and stayed in character throughout all intense scenes. I believe they did a great job on grasping the story and telling it through their ways of acting. Their emotions were very powerful as they acted in character throughout the film. I would recommend all crime documentary lovers and people who are interested in drama films to try watching the show The Act.
