The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration called for the pause of the use of Johnson and Johnson vaccines after six reported cases of blood clots. The six cases were among roughly 6.8 million Americans who received the single-shot vaccine. According to the FDA and CDC, six women between the ages of 18 and 48 had the cases in which the symptoms occurred 6 to 13 days after vaccination. The other two vaccines used in the U.S., Pfizer and Moderna, are safer and continue to be distributed all across the U.S. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet with the CDC to review and assess the significance of the six cases.
