Nine children and adults were killed and at least twenty people injured on Tuesday after a gunman opened fire in a school in the Russian city of Kazan.

A lone teenage gunman opened fire at School No. 175 in Kazan, Russia, on Tuesday morning. This terrifying incident sent students running out of the building and jumping out of classroom windows to escape the gunman. Children could be seen leaping from the third floor of the school on a video that a bystander took.

All students were eventually evacuated and collected by their families. Officials said the attacker had been arrested, and police opened a criminal investigation into the shooting. There was an account, created before the shooting, where you can find posts where the gunman described himself as a god and said he planned to kill a “huge number” of people and himself.

After this frightening incident authorities in several Russian regions ordered sweeping security inspections at schools and Putin also ordered a  revision on the regulations on the types of weapons allowed for civilian use.
