In Louisiana there was a hurricane 16 years ago on August 23, 2005 called ¨Hurricane Katrina  ̈. That was a massive hurricane with a wind speed of 175 mph causing so many homes to be destroyed and $125 billion dollars worth of destruction. From the recent new hurricane that is occurring in 2021, the power has been shut down. Still to this day, September 1, there are residences in New Orleans that don’t have their power on and probably won’t have their power on for another month. Also, there have been stores that have no food or any kind of supplies to support the families that are staying in New Orleans because the trucks are having shortages of food, as well, with all the other residents taking a lot more food to be able to survive. Lastly, gas companies are running out of fuel for cars so now there are more people who are not able to leave Louisiana/New Orleans, and are worried about their safety.

There have been 2 deaths since Hurricane Ida occured about a week ago; by a man being crushed by a tree that fell and a man drowning when trying to drive through the flood.  It was the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina when Hurricane Ida decided to appear. Making it have many controversies on the 2 hurricanes.
