While we were all stuck at home the fashion world got a lot bigger and a lot more colorful. New pieces were made while some were just brought back from the dead. These are the top 10 fashion trends that made their way to the top in our COVID infested 2021.

#10- Oversized Clothing

Oversized clothing took charge in the late 90’s, but were thrown to the back of the closet when the early 20´s came around. The early 20´s focused on being more scandalous with tight, form fitting clothes that revealed much more than the previous centuries before it. Now oversized clothing is back! The most popular of this section are oversized flannels and jackets with oversized pants being a close second. This is just one of the many fashion trends that got a second life.

#9- Sweater Vests

Sweater vests were seen as the stereotypical ¨nerd¨ outfit for decades. Sweater vests were originally made in 1910 and became extremely popular in the UK around the 70´s. Ever since then they´ve been an on and off fashion trend with the 90´s being one of the most popular for the little sleeveless sweater. Now in 2021 almost every woman owns a sweater vest. Some wear shirts under and some don’t. The vest has become less of a ¨nerd¨ outfit and more of a necessity in clothing.

#8- Cottage Core

Out of all of the revivals this one´s the most shocking. The idea of cottage core was created by young adults in 2010. The takes some fashion trends from the 90´s and even goes as far as to take inspiration from the 18th century. The point of it is to idealise a picture perfect rural life. This usually includes vintage dress, cute sun hats, little purses, etc.. The point of this is to be whatever you make of it, so the clothing and ideals are different for everyone.

#7- Chunky Jewelry

Chunky jewelry is back! The large plastic pieces exploded in the 80’s matching the loud and large vision of the time. They then disappeared as the early 20´s came around where thin, chained, gold and silver pieces took over. While thin jewelry is still in, it´s now sharing its fame with the chunky jewelry pieces that have come back from the dead to be worn on our fingers and necks.

#6- Crochet

One of the most time consuming hobbies, crochet, has finally come back into 2021 trends. Crocheted clothing famously found in 70´s fashions, go all the way back to the early 1800s. Some of the reasons why it has become so popular once again is because of how portable and easy it is to do. All you require is a needle, a hook, and yarn. You can see people crocheting tops, cardigans, purses, headbands, and vests. Just check Etsy and you´ll see!

#5- Sage Green

Sage green has always been an all time favorite color for homes. The color became popular with homeowners in the 40´s and now has won many homeowners over because of the color. You wouldn’t have seen the color ever touch clothing. This fashion color was needed because every year has its own neutral color. You can see sage green being paired with white, brown, a blush color, or a beige. The color was seen as mature so wearing it meant you were mature and put together. Today it’s just a fun color that can be paired up with anything.
