On October 12, 2021 El Diamante had a home game against Golden West. Golden West was founded in 1963 by Herbert and Marion Sandler. Golden West and El Diamante have been in a rivalry since forever as seen by the ¨battle for the paddle¨ game that happens every year during water polo season. The first game was Varsity women´s. They were winning the first two quarters with 3 to 0. During the last two quarters Golden West attempted to come back, but were too late. El Diamante Women’s Varsity won 10 to 4. Varsity Men´s however had a harder time. They started the game with Golden West in the lead with 1 to 0. During most of the game El Diamante was down by one. In the last quarter however, the El Diamante boys were able to make a big comeback winning the game 8 to 7.
