- Its a quick way to make a mouth watering, wanting to gorge into this macaroni & cheese
Ingredients:
- 4 cups dried macaroni
- 1 whole egg
- ½ stick of salted butter
- ¼ cup of all purpose flour
- 2 ½ cups of whole milk
- 2 teaspoons of heaping dry mustard
- 1 lb grated cheese (cheddar, jack, fonita, any kind cheese you want to use)
- ½ teaspoon of salt (to taste)
- ½ teaspoon of seasoned salt
- ½ teaspoon of pepper
- Other spice optionals would be: paprika, thyme, cayenne pepper
Directions:
- First step is to cook the macaroni until its firm, the drain in a strainer
- In a tiny bowl beat together that 1 whole egg
- In a bigger pot on the stove you need to melt the butter and sprinkle the flour make sure its incorporated, whisk on low heat for 5 minutes
- Pour the milk in adding the dry mustard, whisk until smooth, cooking for 5 minutes until its a thicker paste
- Then take about ¼ cup of that sauce and pour it into the beaten egg, whisk to avoid the egg cooking
- Pour the egg mixture in the rest of the sauce, again whisking more, until smooth
- Add the cheese and stir until its fully melted, then add our salt, seasoned salt, and balck pepper
- Add more salt and pepper as needed
- Pour the drained macaroni in the sauce pan and stir until its combined completely
- You can either serve it nice and creamy or you can put it in a pan and add extra cheese or bread crumbs at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes, if you want
