How To Complete The FAFSA If Your Parents Do Not Have Social Security Numbers

As many seniors are starting to finish up their college applications and applying for financial aid, including myself, I came upon a mild conflict. I did not know how to complete my FAFSA form as my parents do not have social securities. As a first-generation child, like many here at El Diamante, our parent´s citizenship status should not determine our eligibility for federal student aid. 

If your parents or someone you know՚s parents do not have SNNs, they must enter 000-00-0000 when the FAFSA form asks for the parents’ SSNs. They will not be able to create FSA IDs and therefore will not be able to sign your FAFSA form electronically. Print out the signature page from the online FAFSA form so your parents can sign it and mail it to the following address:
