What is The Purpose of School?

The purpose of school is to prepare students for the real world. They do this by either getting them ready to work a job, or overall giving them the discipline in order to learn how to work on their own. Without school, kids wouldn’t know how to live in the real world properly.

Certain schools tend to focus on teaching kids how to work, which is essential to living in the real world. “Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker recently tried to change the mission statement of the University of Wisconsin to focus exclusively on workforce development.” This school noticed that when they prioritize teaching kids how to work, they’re able to make a living for themselves way easier than other students who weren’t taught all of this. Schools also teach efficient ways to get a job which is why students are so successful in finding one. For the poll that says “How many months did it take for students to find a job?”almost half of them were able to find one in less than a month.

Some people believe that school isn’t to prepare the new generations how to work for the real world, they instead think that it just works on the character of people in order to make sure that the generation that they are educating is filled with good people. While this is a decent argument, I don’t agree with it. This isn’t true for me because although school does kind of work on people’s morals, they very obviously are focusing on making sure that people know how to work and make money. Money is everything in this world, and the education system recognizes that. Also, there is a large percentage of people who agree with me. 25% of people exactly, actually.

In conclusion, the purpose of education is to prepare the new generations for living in the real world. Although people may think that the only purpose of education is to make sure that everyone is a good person, that is obviously not the case according to the evidence.
