Caramel Bars

Servings: makes 24 squares

Ingredients:

-32 individually wrapped caramels

-5 tablespoons of heavy cream

-1 cup of flour

-1 cup of rolled oats

-¾ cups of brown sugar

-½ teaspoon of baking soda

-¼ teaspoon of salt

-¾ cup of butter, melted

-½ cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips

-½ cup of chopped walnuts

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit
  2. In a saucepan over low heat melt the caramel and heavy cream, stirring occasionally, until smooth
  3. In a separate bowl mix the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt
  4. Mix the melted butter into the dry ingredients
  5. Use half of that mixture and press it down into a 13 by 9 inch pan and save the other half for later
  6. Bake the mixture that is pressed in the pan for about 8 minutes
  7. Sprinkle the crust with the chocolate chips and the walnuts
  8. Pour the melted caramel and heavy cream mixture over the crust, chocolate chips and walnuts
  9. Crumble the rest of the crust mixture that was set aside on top of the caramel mixture
  10. Cook for 12 minutes
  11. ENJOY!
