The unsolved murder of JonBenét Ramsey is one of the decade’s most famous police investigations. This case is very gruesome and involves possible child abuse, which makes people all around the world believe that her parents are responsible for the murder of their daughter.
JonBenét Ramsey, born in 1990, was a six-year-old American beauty queen from Boulder, Colorado. She participated in many child beauty pageants and was pretty famous as a little girl. Her parents and her older brother, Burke, supported her every step of the way when she was in pageants. They loved to see their daughter become a successful pride and joy to the whole family.
However, this all changed when JonBenét came up missing from their family’s home. In the house on December 26, 1996, there was a ransom letter, demanding $118,000 from the family in exchange for their daughter. The family immediately called Colorado police officers to search the house for JonBenét. They overlooked many rooms in the house and came back to see JonBenét dead in the family’s basement. Her autopsy revealed that her cause of death was due to strangulation and a skull fracture.
Shockingly, the whole family was put under investigation. After examining the ransom note, the FBI revealed that the unusually long note matched the mother’s handwriting. Patsy Ramsey, JonBenét’s mother, stated that she loved her daughter very much and that she was unable to even think about the possibility of her murdering her own daughter.
The FBI also suspected that the father, John Ramsey, had something to do with this case, as he was known to be a bit aggressive with his family. They also suspected him because the second JonBenét’s body was found, he went on what seemed to be a “vacation”.
Burke Ramsey was also closely watched, as there were marks of his toy train on JonBenét’s body found in the autopsy. They suspected that Burke had one motive if he did commit this crime. His sister was the spotlight of the family. He could’ve been jealous and easily hit her with his toys, ultimately killing JonBenét.
The parents were keen on the suspect being some creep in their neighborhood, as it was revealed that their neighborhood was filled with child predators. They believed one of the neighbors snuck in through the basement window and killed their daughter in their own home.
This case sparked many theories among social media. Some people think it was the mom, some think it was the dad, brother, or a random child predator. Most people think the whole family was involved in this murder and covered it up to take the suspicion off them.
To this day, nobody knows what really happened in the Ramsey house. Recently, Burke Ramsey had a live interview with ABC News in 2016, where people caught some disturbing things that happened during the interview. Burke was asked what it was like to be without his younger sister, and he answered the question with a big grin on his face. Every time he spoke, he smiled. People all over social media were both outraged and confused as to why he was smiling. Since then, the case has been put to rest once again and has been forgotten.
