On Tuesday this week, Doug Emhoff was quickly escorted out of a Washington high school due to a bomb threat. He was visiting Dunbar High School in order to celebrate Black History Month. While attending a presentation there at 2:20pm the Secret Service had then quickly escorted him out of the building. Afterward, students and teachers were also asked to evacuate. Enrique Gutierrez who is a spokesperson for D.C. public schools said this, “We had a threat today to the facility so, basically, we took the precaution of evacuating everybody, as you saw,” and “I think everyone is safe. The building is clear”. These bomb threats have come in a week exactly after many Black colleges and universities around the country have also received bomb threats on Feb. 1, the first day of Black History Month. A day after the bomb threat at Dunbar High School law enforcement has identified six minors as “persons of interest”. Officials have described them as “tech-savvy” and also took measures to disguise themselves when they made the threats. Also said that the threats were a “racist motivation”.
