Ancient Japanese 'killing stone' said to contain evil demon has cracked open

Tamamo-No-Mae took the form of a beautiful woman that lived during the time when Emperor Toba ruled. She planned to use her beauty, charm, and wit to murder Emperor Toba. Tamamo-No-Mae became a very powerful demon and earned the name “Nine-Tailed Fox. Because of her powers, her spirit was then trapped in the killing stone.

TAMAMO NO MAE

Her spirit was contained in the killing stone for many years, until last week, when tourists discovered the rock cracking down the middle. On Monday, the rock was seen split directly in half and had no signs of someone breaking it. Most people believe Tamamo-No-Mae’s spirit was so full of revenge and anger, she escaped on her own and released herself into the world again.

One person commented on Twitter: “Here I thought 2022 couldn’t get worse.”

As of right now, officials are going over what to do with the rock’s remains and could even attempt to restore it.
