Battlefield 2042, A Disastrous Launch That Ruined a Franchise

EA and Dice released Battlefield 2042, it was a disaster. Battlefield has made so little money, EA is thinking about making the game free-to-play to hope that players would install the game, buy microtransactions to save the game (yeah good luck nobody wants this trash game). Battlefield 2042 has so few players, Left 4 Dead 2 has more players, even Clownfield, a parody of Battlefield 2042 has more players, with better reviews! Battlefield 2042 is rated one of the worst games on the Steam store being in the top 4th worst rated. Here is why Battlefield 2042 is horrendous.

First, it’s more broken than the Russian economy. It’s normal when a game first comes out that bugs, glitches, or minor issues will be present but it shouldn’t be game-breaking. But Battlefield 2042 showed in the beta that the game was absolutely broken but fans were hoping that “it will be fixed, it’s the beta”. But when the game was released it was an absolute bug fest with tanks flying, jets bouncing off buildings, people running invisible, people unable to be killed, so many downgrades, with laziness not even being hidden, with so many other problems that made people claw their eyes out.

(Second rate Ukrainian gaming studios do a way better job! What even is this!?)

Secondly, the game design is awful! The maps are way too big, despite lobbies having massive amounts of players, it takes a long time to find someone, too long to get around to capture an objective. Specialists are a thing, replacing the iconic classes. Battlefield 2042 hopped on the trend of hero shooters. But the specialists are boring with no personality, only a few of them are actually being played because a lot of them are broken. A lot of people run around looking the same, the characters act, look so cartoony too. They say things like “Wow, wow, wow…that was easy” or “I think I pulled something” or “I’m not cocky! I’m just confident!”. Who says that in a war? In other battlefield games, generic soldiers would scream commands or their countries’ dialect. In fact, many players want the generic soldiers back as they actually felt real, immersed in a war, not a Fortnite match. There are fewer guns, maps, gadgets, with downgrades. There are fewer details on graphics, maps, there are no voice chats, barely just adding a scoreboard, gun customization during matches doesn’t work at all, spawning in matches is broken with people spawning during the start of a match with no cover allowing cheap shots. Allows spawning on a squadmate during a firefight which allows you to die instantly, which is strange because other Battlefield games don’t allow you to spawn during firefights to protect you (or you survive in 2042 because your hitboxes don’t exist).

(Battlefield 3 is better looking, more details despite being more than 11 years old)

Thirdly, pure greed with laziness. It’s evident that the game was rushed with only the intention to grab money. The game should have been delayed. EA released a Santa skin with other stupid microtransactions. The number of downgrades shows much soul this game has. None.
