Sherri Papini was a woman that was abducted. She had a husband and children when one day she was taken. She was eventually found around 140 miles from her house, where she told the authorities and police that she was taken by two people and was connected to a pole inside a closet. She then explains how she was beaten and she was branded. Then later on she then explains to federal prosecutors that there were two masked women that abducted her by gunpoint while she was on a run. Showed how she was faking her abduction by having her stories mixed up. In reality, the bruises and burns were self-inflicted and not actually by the people who “abducted” her. Then, her ex-boyfriend comes out and says that he took her. The prosecutors found out by the DNA on Ms. Papini’s clothing linking the ex-boyfriend’s parents. When they interviewed the ex-boyfriend he claimed that Sherri wanted him to brand her for a craft. Showing another piece of evidence on how she faked the abduction. She was eventually arrested and charged with false statements. The charges range from 30,000 to finally 250,000 and owed 150,00 in resources for the investigation and facing 5 years in prison. While this was occurring there were actual real abductions that were occurring, while Ms. Papini decided to lie and earn money from her fake abduction. Continuously having her husband defend her saying on the news, “I’m coming, honey. I’m trying. I’m doing everything I can.”  While this was happening they earned thousands of dollars of donations to find her, when her husband was asking people to donate money to help get her out of prison.
