According to Kyiv Police, it has come out that the US journalist, Brent Renaud, was murdered by Russian forces in Irpin, Ukraine at the age of 50, March 13, 2022. Renaud was in Ukraine to cover the global refugee crisis for a TIME Studio project. Renaud was the first American Journalist to be murdered while reporting in Ukraine during the war. According to the local police, Renaud was shot in the head when Russian troops began to fire at the vehicle he was sitting in. The vehicle was crossing over a checkpoint in Irpin and it was being driven by a civilian. This led another journalist to become wounded as well. TIME Magazine wrote a statement stating, “We are devastated by the loss of Brent Renaud. It is essential that journalists are able to safely cover this ongoing invasion and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.” He was a wonderful, smart man whose life was taken from him for nothing. He had such a long life ahead of him and deserves justice. Brent Renaud was cast in multiple movies and was loved by many. Millions of people are extremely heartbroken over his death, along with his family. Investigators are still looking in to find the person who murdered him.
