This past weekend actress Billie Lourd and producer Austen Rydell have tied the knot. Both had first met each other when they were both attending NYU in 2011. Then in June 2020, Austen had popped the question Billie had said “duh!” instead of yes as he had noted in his Instagram engagement announcement. That same year their son, Kingston Fisher Lourd Rydell was born in September. A way Billie honored the late Carrie Fisher, who is her mother, was by having Kate and Laura, who are Rodarte’s designers, design a custom off-the-shoulder Rodarte dress. Billie explains, “I discovered Kate and Laura [Mulleavy, Rodarte’s designers] after they interviewed my mom for an article back in 2014 and immediately fell in love,” and “So when I started thinking about who I wanted to design my wedding dress, they were the first people who came to mind. I have always been a massive fan of their work and thought their elegant, ethereal, unique style was a perfect fit for my—kind of— elegant, ethereal, unique personality. I also felt a strong connection to them because of their connection to my mom and because they are California gals just like me!”. Michelle Ceglia, who has worked with Billie since American Horror Story: Cult in 2017 did her hair. And Eryn Kruger Mekash, who’s worked with her since Scream Queens season one in 2015 did her makeup. Billie’s engagement ring has a diamond that originates from the ring her dad used when proposing to her mom and then Austen had it reset. Also wearing her mom’s favorite ring, a blue fire opal that her mom wore all the time.
