Instant Changes

Sometimes your life can be going great or horrible but can change in an instant. A lot of things can cause a significant change in someone’s life. As detailed in “ Thank You M’am “ “An American Childhood” and “ A Christmas Carol” shows how a significant change in someone’s life can be caused by knowing possible consequences for actions, self realization, and stealing.

To begin with, stealing can cause a sudden change in someone’s life. The text “ Thank You Ma’am” states” It was about eleven o’clock at night, dark, and she was alone when a boy ran up behind her and tried to snatch her purse.” It’s bad stealing in the first place but if he didn’t try to steal the lady would have never helped the way that she helped him. Also in “ At the Crossroads “ It says “ … he planned to survive on the goodness of the people he met on the road.” The author implies with this evidence that if they didn’t steal they wouldn’t have got the consequences.

Second, Knowing the possible consequences can change you a lot. In “ A Christmas Carol “ Act II states “ The funeral oh well yes, yes, I did, I’d wish you could have gone. It would have done you good to see such a place so green. But you’ll see it often. I promised him that I would walk there on Sunday. After the service…” After Scrooge sees that Tiny Tim will die if he doesn’t help, he starts to change the way he acts. In a different story, the author states in “ Thank You M’am  “ If I turn you loose will you run and the boy says yes then she says then I won’t let you go. “ One can assume that this evidence shows how they acted differently after seeing what can happen.

Finally, having self-realization can change a person. The author states in “ An American Childhood” that “ she did not say, but understood at once =, that they had their pursuits (coffee?) and I had mine. She did not say but began to understand then, that you do what you do out of your private passion for the thing. “ This helped Annie Dillard realize that she can do anything by herself. In “ Thank You Ma’am “ it states “ But the boy took care to sit on the far side of the room away from the pocketbook, where he thought she could easily see him out of the corner of her if she wanted to. He did not want to be mistrusted now.” This evidence is relevant because it shows how realizing something about yourself can help you change the way you act.

You never know what could happen to your life. It can change in an instant, good or bad. “ Life can change in an instant, don’t be so worried about the future that you forget to celebrate what you have right now” unknown.
