Justin Lin Steps Down as Director of Fast X

On Tuesday director Justin Lin who was set to direct Fast X, the 10th film in the fast and furious franchise announced that he will step down as director but remain on as producer. The announcement, which was made on the franchise’s Instagram stated, “With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of FAST X”, along with “Over 10 years and five films, we have been able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts, and the best damn car chases,” continuing with “On a personal note, as the child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history.” And lastly saying, “I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew, and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the FAST family”. The movie, Fast X, had started filming last week with most of the main cast coming back including rapper Cardi B who had made a cameo in the recent film, F9. Director Justin Lin had directed other Fast and Furious films first beginning with, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast and Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), and Fast and Furious 6 (2013). Justin did not direct the seventh or eighth film but came back for F9.
