On Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, El Diamante baseball played Redwood at home in a regular WYL game. The game was dedicated to the coach for the El Diamante Miners, Kevin Beno. Beno has coached since the opening of the school: for a total of 20 years. Beno and his family were honored before the game and he was given a framed El Diamante baseball jersey. Beno is a very valued and appreciated pitching coach for El Diamante.
Both Matthew Bettencourt and Branson Campbell pitched for the Miners. The game was very intense and had the fans on the edge of their seats. At first, the game was not looking too good for El Diamante, as they were down 0-2 at the beginning of the game. However, the game soon turned around for the Miners. They scored 9 runs in a single inning and ended up winning the game 10-3. The last run scored for the Rangers was actually a home run.
