On May 15, 2022, Sunday night will be the first full lunar eclipse out of two this year. Sadly enough this will be the only lunar eclipse visual for the residents of Visalia, CA. The flower moon will be full at 9:14pm sharp. The time starts 8pm to 11pm. The color of the moon is extraordinary, it goes from gray to pink to a deep orangey color. The color of the moon is what gives it so many names, but it’s more commonly known as the Blood moon. During May, it gets the name of the flower moon because May is what signifies the moment of flowers blooming. The coloring of the moon is caused when Earth is directly in between the moon and the sun. The positioning of these planets will create the sun to give the moon an illumination. There is no significant reason for it; however, the sight itself is immaculate.
A few interesting facts about this moon occurring this year is that this will be the first longest time that it will be out for the pacific watchers of the century. This November will also have another Blood moon which is fairly common; However, the timing of the moon will be nearly identical to the one that will be on the 15th. These two moons have scored a name for themselves called the twin eclipse. It is technically a supermoon due to the positioning of the planets. Its being a supermoon will mean that there is a chance a king tide will occur; Meaning that there’s a threat of flooding.
