“You got this! I believe in you and your team is counting on you!” is something Mr. Contreras would tell his athletes as he rewrapped their feet to get them back on the field. Mr. Contreras is El Diamante’s Certified Athletic Trainer. He majored in school counseling at COS/Fresno State but then took a class on sports medicine and it changed his whole view of a career. He has been a Certified Athletic Trainer for 6 years and counting. As he progressed he went on to get his Master’s degree but was grandfathered in. Now you may be wondering, does he just love and focus on sports 24/7? No!
Some of Contreras’ favorite hobbies include hiking, basketball, and even tennis. Some of the things he enjoys most about El Diamante apart from the other schools he’s worked at are the drive of his athletes to succeed, the school’s spirit, and the kind community. Apparently, they even hold administrative events, and all of the coaches and people working with the sports teams have welcomed him with open arms. Some cool facts about him are that his favorite color is blue and his favorite movie is Gladiator as well.
Believe it or not, Contreras isn’t a family man. He has no kids and isn’t married, which is perfect if you are looking to focus on your career. Some things Mr. Contreras wants El Diamante and staff to know about
him goes as follows:
- He is very easy going
- If you respect him, he respects you
- Is very competitive
- Loves almost any type of athletics
Some of his favorite sports teams also consist of
- Football being the Dallas Cowboys
- Basketball being the Chicago Bulls
- Hockey being the Anaheim Ducks
Last, but not least, some things that inspire Contreras are his drive to help young athletes make it big or even just succeed out on the field, and also encourages athletes with positive criticism to make the most of what they can.
