Big Brother is a reality TV show where sixteen people are sent to live in a house for 3 months, and the last one standing gets $750k. They’re isolated from the world and aren’t allowed to know what’s going on in the world they normally live in. Every week, the people living in the house vote to remove one person from the game until there are only 2 people left. Then, the evicted houseguests come together and vote for one of them to win the money.

This season, the final two were Monte Taylor and Taylor Hale. Throughout the course of this season, Taylor had been belittled and outcast for a simple miscommunication in the early weeks. This set her off on a bad foot, but she managed to survive eviction 5 times and she ultimately won the game by a vote of 8-1. She made history by being the first black woman to win a regular season of Big Brother, and she is the only person to have won the prize of America’s Favorite while winning the game as well. She broke the pattern of winners being decided by competition wins, but rather being chosen by their will to stay in the house. She may not have won as many competitions as Monte did, but she proved time and time again that she could fight for her life in the game.

Her final speech was really amazing too. It ultimately pushed most of the voters to vote in her favor in the end. Her speech included: “I am a sword. I am not a victim. I am a victor. And if there is one word that is going to describe the entire season, it is resiliency.”

Overall, I believe that Taylor was very deserving of winning the $750k and is a great representative of what this season means for many people.
