Slipknot Self-Titled Album Review

On June 29, 1999, Slipknot released the record they are most known for which is “Slipknot” by Slipknot. This album is one of the most iconic records to come out of nu-metal which is a subgenre of alternative metal and other bands like Korn and System of a down also make nu-metal music. Slipknot self-titled is an amazing record and every song on it just hits you like a truck while the instruments on this album do their thing there are outstanding vocals from none other than Corey Taylor himself. One thing unique about Slipknot is the masks they wear on their album covers and even during live performances we can see on the cover of Slipknot self-titled we can see the members of the band with their crazy well-made masks. Slipknot was formed in 1995 with members like Corey Taylor, Shawn Crahan, Joey Jordison, etc. They also formed in Iowa which would, later on, make a cameo of their other amazing record called “Iowa” which is obviously referencing where they formed their band. Slipknot self-titled is a beast of an album and every song just had an incredible melody with the best guitars and incredible drums and just everything about this album is fantastic. It’s really an album that I can tell a lot of time and effort was put into making this sound perfect. Some of my personal favorite tracks are Wait and Bleed, Spit it out, Liberate, Prosthetics, and (Sic).

My overall rating of this album would be a solid 10/10 just because there is really nothing to hate about this record and every song is just a wave of sounds piercing through your ears which may cause you to have ear damage in the future but that’s also what makes this album a defining record for nu-metal alongside all the other great projects Slipknot has made.
