This last Tuesday morning, a 5.1 earthquake struck the San Francisco Bay Area on October 25th, 2022, which both rattled buildings and people. There was no significant damage or injuries that happened.
The temblor had started around 11:30 a.m and was about 9 miles away from Seven Trees and 12 miles east of San Jose. The 3.1 aftershock lasted about 5 minutes. A USGS “Did you feel it map” shows that the quake could be felt from as far south as Salinas and as far north as Fairfield California and North of San Francisco. The tremor was on the Calaveras fault.
This quake was the biggest earthquake to hit the Bay area since 2014’s South Napa Earthquake, which was a magnitude 6.0 quake.
California’s Office of Emergency Services is coordinating with local authorities in the Bay Area to evaluate any preliminary damages or issues the quake may have caused.
