This last Tuesday, our orchestras had their first concert of the year thus far. This concert was a collaborative one between El Diamante’s orchestra students and the orchestra students at La Joya, our feeder school. Each ensemble played 3 songs, having 12 songs played in total. It was a huge success for this section of our music program.
Being an orchestra member myself, I had lots of fun that night. When doing collaborative concerts with La Joya, it becomes clear how much we as musicians have improved over the course of our time in the program. It’s a fun experience to remember what level I was at compared to where I am now, and it makes me feel so much excitement for the now middle schoolers who get to see their own development when they get into high school.
I still have a lot of improvement to be done, but thankfully I have more concerts to come as well.
