Last Friday, We witnessed perhaps one of the perfect underdog stories in El Diamante High School history. El Diamante went against Golden West for the saddle and leading up to this game, El Diamante had an unsuccessful win-loss record of 0-11. They possibly lost all credibility that they ever have throughout the season. No one expected them to take back the saddle on that night, we all doubted them during the Battle for Saddle rally as they proclaim to make sure that the saddle comes back home.
At the game, there were bleachers filled with a crowd of students cheering, banging balloons, and making noises as El Diamante scored the first touchdown of the game. They will continue scoring another touchdown plus two points. It was the fourth quarter and only a minute on the clock; for the first time, we believe they will pull off a miracle. Fortunately, they run the clock and did the impossible, something that someone wouldn’t believe to come true. As time expired, players are seen running onto the field celebrating probably their biggest win yet. The crowd was in joy as we were finally able to reclaim what was rightfully ours, the saddle. At first, everyone doubted them but now they proved all of us wrong and fulfilled their promise.
