Follow The Leader – Album Review

On August 18th, 1998, Popular Nu-metal band “Korn” released their most famous and third studio album Follow The Leader and let me tell you this I was very impressed on the first listen. This album consists of 14 tracks and some of them are flat-out amazing. Some things I enjoyed about this record are Jonathan Davis’s amazing vocals and his own style of lyrics where he makes his voice raspy and makes weird sounds. It’s just incredible. Korn themselves have pioneered nu-metal alongside SOAD, Slipknot, and Deftones, which are all amazing bands. Follow The Leader consists of some of Korn’s best work and interesting things that they do in the album like one of the songs literally has an Ice Cube feature which caught me off guard. Korn and Ice Cube actually sound really well together but the two in a collaboration song is like 50 cent and Mozart being in a song together. It does not seem real (which it isn’t but I was making a comparison). Besides the Ice Cube feature, I believe that listening to this album for the first time yesterday really exceeded my expectations.

Overall I loved this album and some of my favorite tracks were Its On!, Freak on a Leash, Got the life, Children of the Korn (featuring Ice Cube), B.B.K, All in the Family, and Seed. I would give this album a 9/10. This record really expanded my music taste and made me fall in love with Nu-metal even more.
