California Weather

There has been nonstop talk about the popular topic: the crazy weather. California is experiencing one of the worst storms in the state’s history, even being deemed as the “worst disaster.” This is because the effects of the heavy rain and flooding were enough to force thousands of people to evacuate from their homes and caused destruction to roads and buildings/houses. According to the LA Times, twenty-two people have died as a result of the storms by either drowning or by fallen trees. Roads and highways were heavily affected by this disaster. California roads are not built to endure these weather conditions, and as a result, the roads have many potholes and uneven gravel. In addition to the potholes, there have been many mudslides in the mountains that have caused many roads to close. Experts say that all this damage could exceed $1 billion – from the three-week storm. Cities like San Francisco and Santa Cruz were heavily affected and flooded and people were surfing in the streets. Thankfully the storms have died down and California will probably go back to being dry in two months.
