2023 is off to a horrible start with regard to mass shootings and deaths. Not even one month in and there have been 37 mass shootings – which has set the record for most shootings in the month of January which beats the previous high of last January 2022 (34 shootings). These heartbreaking numbers contribute to the argument that gun control should be enforced. One shooting (not mass) was done by a six-year-old, who shot his teacher at an elementary school in Virginia. Another mass shooting happened not too far in Goshen where two gunmen killed six people including a sixteen-year-old mom and her ten-month-old son. This has been and continues to be a heavy subject for all, but it is important to spread awareness of the fact that so far this year, there have been more mass shootings than days. This is America in 2023.
