Got Senioritis?

As we near the end of the school year, it is becoming more and more common that people are experiencing the plague we know as senioritis. The term senioritis describes the lack of motivation felt by students reaching the end of their courses. Although senioritis isn’t a transmittable disease, it has affected many people. Evident in the increase in tardiness, absences, and lower grades. Though some may argue that senioritis is another way to describe laziness, others have found that it is not something to be taken lightly. Senioritis can affect every student differently. Most people will rarely experience it, but others will allow it to get the better of them. I never knew it existed until I got a bad case of senioritis. My advice is to get it under control before it begins to control you. Some tips on how to cure senioritis include:

  1. Go technology-free. One that is difficult but can make the biggest impact starts by focusing on taking care of yourself.
  2. Pursue a passion. Sometimes rediscovering old hobbies and interests can help you spark growth.
  3. Be intentional. Most of the time, we mindlessly lose ourselves in the media, so take the time to do things that will set you up for the future.
  4. Worry less. Not only will this allow you to heal, but it will also give you a positive way to approach situations.
