The Classic burger is an American favorite. It’s an icon among icons of American food. It also is very customizable with different patties to fit different diets and different vegetables to add to the burger. It truly shows an American’s creativity or lack of it. Here is a recipe for a classic American burger. The recipe will be about 4 servings or 4 hamburgers

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup minced onions
  • ¼ fine dried bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp of Worcestershire
  • 2 cloves of garlic, peeled and minced
  • ½ tsp of salt
  • ¼ tsp of pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 4 iceberg lettuce leaves, rinsed and crisped
  • 1 firm-ripened tomato, cored and thinly sliced
  • 4 thin sliced onions

Instructions

First, you will mix your ground beef, egg, onion, bread crumbs, Worcestershire, garlic, ½ teaspoon of salt, and ¼ teaspoon of pepper until it’s all well blended. Then divide the mixture into 4 similarly shaped patties. Then put the patties on your barbecue or grill or stove (whichever one you use). Make sure that the patties are browned on both sides. Once they are just remove them from the grill. Lay the bun on whatever you prefer to cook with and get them lightly toasted. Now time to make the burger. Spread mayonnaise and ketchup on the bun bottoms. Then stack your burger like this, lettuce, tomato, burger, onion, and salt and pepper for taste, and finally place the top bun.
