There is about 8.05 billion people in the world in 2023. The number of people is determined by the number of people being born and dying. 120 years ago, there were only 2 billion people on the planet. The reason for the population growth is so evident is that life expectancy has gone up a lot and there is a decrease in child mortality. The population is projected to increase for about eighty years with about 10.4 billion people, and then the decrease is expected to begin.
