Between the Lines – A Book Review

“be here, in what needs to be done today – that’s how you honor tomorrow” Home Body by Rupi Kaur is the fourth book in her poetry collection. The content is divided into four sections: mind, heart, rest, and awake.

The third section rest was the most hard-hitting section for me to read. It made me rethink how I care for myself and my mental health. The overwhelming love bound to this book comes through Rupi’s writing in every poem.

I have always found Rupi Kaur’s writing refreshing and genuine. She has such a way of storytelling everything she writes is very real and raw. She has the power to touch your heart with her words and then build you back up in the same book.

One of my favorite traits in Rupi’s writing is that she is not afraid to talk about anything. Her writing carries heavy topics like rape, generational trauma, immigration, racism, sexism, and mental health. Even though her poetry isn’t traditional, or doesn’t always rhyme, her stories are a reflection of her most vulnerable thoughts and feelings. She writes a statement, and she tells you directly how she feels. Overall, Rupi Kaur has yet again won me over with another one of her books. I highly recommend it!
