The very well-known artist for her character of Crybaby, Melanie Martinez, has finally announced her new Album PORTALS, which will be released on March 31st of this year!!! It has been about 2 years since Melanie’s last album After School EP was released and ever since then Melanie had shared her life throughout her story taking a break from releasing anything but information has been told she was making a new film and album which was soon to be released in 2022 however things were taken longer than expected so then she has told new information about the releases of both things to be released around 2023. However, when this year began she later said that her film will need to be released next year due to adjustments and as well need a bit more time to be worked on; her last film K-12 was released around 2020 of September that had her character Crybaby go through the life struggles as a human on earth. In this era Crybaby learns more about human life and the struggles each song contains different meanings; but at the end of this film, we see Crybaby deciding to go through a door that was sent to save her and her friends, where did it lead? Nobody knows exactly but there have been theories. Looking back into the film the same door appeared in the Nurse’s Office where Crybaby and Angelita were in a situation out of hope, then this big pink door had come opening a bright light covering from seeing through what was inside; an angel or creature, of some sort, named Lilith saved them before their ending had come to be. Crybaby and Angelita ran over to her in fear and lost all will to stay suffering the pain of human life, this is where Lilith gave a hint to us which could have predicted Melanie’s new album PORTALS, she states they had many lives before this and will continue to have many lives others in the future and that the pain will be temporary. Furthermore, after this era came to a close Melanie continued to answer some fan’s questions about the next film and what will happen next to Crybaby her character and she had discussed that she will be showing Crybaby’s growth along the way and share her story; but when Melanie had shown around the beginning of February of snippets of her song and strange things in these short videos people wondered more on what she was hinting at. This had led to Melanie posting an egg that seemed to contain something inside then later on breaking open, and what she had shown us was a new version of herself as another creature of some sort, a fairy some say. It was a whole new era for Melanie and she had said she wanted to grow as a person and leave Crybaby behind because this story is mostly based on her growth and becoming a new living thing; which then a song titled DEATH she announced will be released on March 17th she brought a whole new sound to her music which most had loved. Though some “Fans” had left due to her becoming this new thing, she continued to follow what she liked, even if it costs some fans who didn’t like her look, and didn’t like that she had no longer continued Crybaby; she had wanted this new era to be something that she can share with others about her growth as something new. Later on March 24th, she released the Music Video of DEATH showing her as this fairy creature whom Melanie takes form as, she also shows the death of Crybaby at the beginning than later on in the video again with swords stabbing into Crybaby and Melanie’s new form holding one of the swords showing that Crybaby is no longer apart of Melane’s journey and she’s ready to follow her new journey. I have been very excited to see how this new side of her will look, and had known Melanie since 2015 and loved every era of hers from The Voice she was into the Crybaby era; she always made her songs personal and full of emotions, to see her new side was something breathtaking and I am happy she is always being herself instead of trying to stay this perfect image for others. PORTALS will be coming out on March 31st and I highly recommend everyone to give it a chance, and stream DEATH and her New Album PORTALS!!!
