On March 15th, 1991, American rock band, Slint, released their second and most popular studio album titled “Spiderland” and this would be Slint’s final album. This album consists of six songs over a forty-minute time period and it did not fail to amaze me listening to this project. Spiderland is their biggest project and has inspired many artists and projects, it even inspired one of my favorite bands, Black Country, New Road, and their album “For the first time” and has a lot of corresponding elements that are inspired and even sampled from Slint and the perfection of Spiderland. Slint split up after only releasing two studio albums because it was told that Slint had a difficult time getting things done music-wise after that went on for a while until eventually one of the band members left the group which ended up breaking apart Slint because their music wouldn’t continue without him.
This album was very good and shows how ahead of their time Slint was making this at only twenty years old in 1991 is very impressive. This project has a very interesting vibe about it, it feels very nostalgic sometimes and the guitar on this record did not fail to impress me as every track was very good. Slint is a very influential album and I can definitely see why, this album is only six songs long and feels like an hour, and the way it makes you feel like listening to it is indescribable, it’s almost like a movie. Overall this album was amazing and I can see myself coming back to listening to it over and over. My favorite tracks from this album are “Breadcrumb Trail, Washer, and Good Morning, Captain” but all the tracks are amazing and stand out in their own way. Overall I give Spiderland by Slint a 10/10.
