This Friday, April 26th the special education class will be participating in the Special Olympics. The students will be competing in different track and field events. The event will be held at Golden West High School, and people of different ages will be competing against one another. It will begin at 9 am and go until around 12:30 pm. The Special Olympics program and mission serve to create athletic opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. There are different sports offered year-round, and this season’s sports consist of track and field (which our students are competing in) as well as swimming. Our El Diamante High School special education students are very excited to compete and have been practicing their long jumps, starting stances, and running in order to prepare. If you see any of these athletes on campus, make sure to tell them good luck. I know they would greatly appreciate it!
