Hyperpop is slowly pushing its way into the mainstream with artists like EricDOA who’s been pushed onto popular Spotify playlists for the song he did for the popular game VALORANT. This isn’t the only achievement recently for these underground artists. For the first time since 2021, Aries is going to be dropping a single on May 5th. Aries is probably the most recognizable artist from the hyperpop scene. This is likely because of how he blends a majority of his music into more mainstream genres. The song is to be called “Snake Eyes” and the only official snippet fans have of it is a two-second clip taken from his announcement video. Everyone seems to be very excited for this artist to return after nearly 3 years! That isn’t it though.
Another popular artist by the name of Glaive, who’s most recognizable by his first EP and collaborations with MGK, dropped a single last night that’s going to bleed into a new EP hopefully sometime this year. The sound Glaive adopts in this new single “As If’ can be described as folk meets indie pop. It’s very new for the 18-year-old artist who usually maintains a very aggressive 80s-sounding vibe. Fans of his music are all for this change though, and we’re waiting patiently for more information on the EP.
Last, but not least, Midwxst has announced that his new album E3 comes out in June. Fans of this hiphop/hyperpop mashing artist are very excited and surprised considering that he already dropped an LP late last year. Regardless, the snippets that Edgar has shared sound amazing. Anyone who’s in the hyperpop scene has a lot to look forward to going forward this year!
